BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff's Office announced an Oildale father, 32-year-old William Davis, was arrested Tuesday for suspected child endangerment, false imprisonment, and torture.

According to KCSO, on Saturday morning deputies were called out to the area of Beardsley Avenue near N. Chester Avenue to check on reports of an abused 7-year-old boy. Deputies said neighbors reported seeing the boy hopping while bound until he fell. Deputies were able to find the boy who was bound at his ankles and wrists with zip ties.

Deputies checked the home for other victims after freed the boy. No adults were located at the scene.

Detectives from the Special Victims Unit were called to assist in the investigation. Through the investigation, detectives allege the boy was consistently bound by his father and locked alone in the residence while the father went to purchase marijuana or went to work for up to 10 hours at a time. KCSO said Davis would repeatedly strike his son with an unknown type of cord.

It was determined that the son lived alone with his father at the residence.

Davis was taken into custody and has been booked into the Kern County Jail and is currently being held on $250,000 bail. He is due in court on Thursday at 3 p.m.
