The Mission at Kern County posted a video with Executive Director Carlos Baldovinos talking about how the homeless crisis has gotten to this point.

"How did we get here? A number of things contributed to this. Affordable housing being one of them, legislation being another, it's been opioid abuse over the years," said Baldovinos in the video. "We are in a homeless crisis like we've never seen before, but The Mission at Kern County is doing something about it."

The Mission is getting ready to expand its shelter and is adding 40 beds. Baldovinos says he thinks it will help with alleviating the problems in our community.

According to The Mission, it houses 300 homeless individuals per night.
