BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A body was found burned inside a house in Southeast Bakersfield following a fire Thursday morning.
The Bakersfield Fire Department said crews responded to the 1300 block of Cottonwood Road around 6 a.m. for reports of a house on fire. When they arrived, they immediately knocked down the intense flames.
Upon searching the home, crews found a body inside.
The Bakersfield Police Department and Coroner's Office were called out, as well as Kern County Fire, California Highway Patrol, PG&E and Red Cross.
Six people were displaced by the fire.
BFD also reported a cat and dog died in the house as well.
The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.
