BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The 100th annual Veterans Day parade kicked off early this morning. Families gathered with flags flying high as the parade began. Hot rods, classic cars and military vehicles cruised the streets decorated with flags.

“For us it's a respect and a love for America. It’s making sure everyone who served for us has that respect and love and that they know they are appreciated,” said Julia Hoogland, a Bakersfield resident.

The streets were flooded with red, white and blue families, locals and veterans celebrating those who served.

“Without them we wouldn’t have the freedom that we have today and it’s just a good way to have the community get together and show their support for everything that the veterans have done for us,” said Dane Kuntz, a Bakersfield resident.
