BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A family has been displaced and two women suffered smoke-inhalation following a two-alarm house fire in Central Bakersfield.
According to Bakersfield Fire, reports came in around 2:40 p.m. for a 2-story single-family home on fire. Crews responded to the area of 31st and Q streets.
Around 30 firefighters from both Bakersfield and Kern County Fire were able to extinguish the blaze.
BFD said the two women who lived at the home suffered smoke inhalation-related medical distress and were treated at the scene.
One family-owned dog died at the scene of the fire and another dog is missing.
The family living there has been displaced due to the extent of the damage to the home.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
