BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Staying in this New Year's seems to be trending.
According to a 23ABC Facebook poll, 90 percent of voters said they were staying in tonight. While only 10 percent said they were going out.
Other residents said they want to stay away from drunk drivers. In 2018 there were 4,300 DUI arrests according to the MADD Bakersfield website.
Opting for a safer ride with Uber or Lyft could cost you money this New Year's too. Tonight ride goers can expect surge pricing from the ride share companies. Surge pricing is when rider demand is higher than driver availability. Prices automatically increase based on demand.
Lyft confirmed they have no cap on their surge pricing. Uber did not respond in time for air.
