BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Measure N Citizens Oversight Committee is set to hold a special meeting today to discuss the general budget for the Bakersfield Public Safety and Vital Services Measure.

In November of 2018, Bakersfield residents voted to approved Measure N, known as Bakersfield Public Safety & Vital City Services Measure. The Measure is a locally controlled one-cent sales tax measure that will provide approximately $58 million annually to the City of Bakersfield to address top community priorities including enhancing public safety, reducing homelessness and bolstering economic development activities.

Since its passing, there has been concern within the Citizen Oversight Committee about how the city should spend the money generated from Measure N.

The Measure N Citizens Oversight Committee special meeting is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. The public can view the meeting agenda here.
