BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — A person was found dead inside an apartment that caught fire Friday, according to the Bakersfield Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to an apartment fire in East Bakersfield at 1011 Lake Street on Feb. 12 at 7:21 p.m. Upon arrival they reported light smoke coming from a bedroom window located on the building’s first floor.

Firefighters were able to knock out the flames. After searching a small room they found the victim.

BFD determined that the fire was accidental.

A cause of death was not immediately available.
