BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — Pacific Gas and Electric Company said due to the strong and dry offshore wind event forecasted for tonight, it has proactively turned off power to 617 customers.
PG&E officials said this is to reduce the risk of wildfire from energized power lines.
Power is expected to remain off throughout the night and a helicopter will go out tomorrow to survey the lines and check for any issues before restoring power.
As of now, the estimated time of power restoration is 8 p.m. Thursday evening.
