One year after the Erskine Fire began ravaging the Lake Isabella area, homes are beginning to pop back up in the devastated area of South Lake.

Gary Harkey is a contractor in the Lake Isabella area. On the one year anniversary of the fire, Harkey was in South Lake building mobile homes for customers who lost everything.

Harkey is building a total of 10 homes in the area, including one for his mother. 

Community members marked the anniversary by gathering at Mountain Mesa Park to thank first responders for their efforts during the fire and to share stories of survival.
