TEHACHAPI, Calif. — Tehachapi neighbors became a little closer, thanks to a young man who decided to do something nice for his neighborhood.
An act of selfless service caught the attention of Mary Bowman, a Tehachapi local, who was determined to find out who the young man mowing her backyard was.
"So, I looked out the window and I noticed this young man mowing. I thought that’s weird, he’s mowing with this little push mower and he’s like struggling,” said Bowman.
She took to Facebook and the classifieds to find out who he was. Soon she was flooded with messages telling her that the young man's name is Warren Clare.
Clare, a Tehachapi high school graduate, began mowing to preserve the poppy flowers, give neighborhood kids an area to play, and reduce the risk of extra brush that could potentially leave to spreading wildfires.
Bowman saw his work ethic, and set up a GoFundMe account to raise money for a new mower for Clare.
Today, Clare received that new mower, and is thankful for all the donations.
“This is just Tehachapi's way of saying thank you so much Warren. We really appreciate what you do for us,” said Bowman.
