BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff's Office says a 911 call regarding an armed man led to an illegal casino bust in Oildale.

Deputies with the Metro Patrol Section were initially called out to the Long Branch Saloon at 900 North Chester Avenue around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday after receiving a call about a man who entered a nearby business carrying a sawed-off shotgun.

When deputies arrived at the business they found 26-year-old Jorge Sandavol inside, armed and allegedly blocking people from leaving,

Deputies surrounded the business then proceeded to call Sandoval and people outside. According to officials, three people exited the store front and told deputies that Sandavol was still inside armed with a shotgun.

After a brief standoff deputies say Sandoval surrendered.

A search warrant was served on the business after discovering that it was running an illegal gambling casino. Officials seized a single two player Fish Game Casino Game, $694 in cash and a sawed off 12 gauge shotgun that was hidden in the roof tiles of the business.

Sandoval was arrested on several gun charges, False Imprisonment, Engaging in Operation of Illegal Casino, and Illegal Bookmaking. He was booked into the Kern County Jail.
