BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Eight people are recovering in the hospital after getting injured in a flash fire on a boat at a fueling station at Buena Vista Lake.

Kern County fire responded to the fire at Buena Vista Lake around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

When crews arrived on scene, they found two people near the boat with burn injuries. Both patients were air lifted to a nearby burn center. Six other people were taken to a burn center with injuries.

The cause of the fire is being investigated. There was no reported damage to the fueling station or boat at this time.
