Two Bakersfield schools were briefly put into lockdown after reports of gunshots heard at Lowell Park in Central Bakersfield, the Bakersfield City School District said Thursday.

The shots were heard at around 1:30 p.m. at Lowell Park at 4th and P Streets, across the street from Emerson Middle School and McKinley Elementary School.

23ABC News is on scene and crews said they can see at least one body on the ground.

A viewer contacted 23ABC News who said that he saw two men running up to another man at the park. He said the two men started shooting at the other man and then left the park.

Police officials said that three Hispanic males were seen leaving the area on foot and got into a red pickup truck.

Officials have not released any information surrounding the shooting and we'll update this page as information is made available.

The schools were briefly put on lockdown, but were lifted at around 2 p.m., according to district spokeswoman Irma Cervantes.
