Kern County firefighters rescued a guinea pig while putting out a house fire in East Bakersfield Tuesday afternoon.

Fire officials responded to the 600 block of Barlow Street just after 1:00 P.M. They located a fire to the rear of the home.

They were able to rescue the pet guinea pig from the fire unharmed. 

No other injuries were reported.

The fire was controlled in 22 minutes with an estimated cost of $50,000 in damage.

Seven people are displaced due to the fire.
