An 80-year-old woman was shot Thursday morning during a robbery in Southwest Bakersfield.

Emergency crews were called to the scene near Stine Road and Ambrister Drive at around 8:45 a.m.

Bakersfield Police said a woman and three men confronted Florence McKay, 80, of Bakersfield at her home, shot her in the leg, and ran off.

McKay was taken to Kern Medical and is expected to survive her injuries.

The shooting scene is about a half-mile north of Ridgeview High School, but school officials said the campus is not impacted.
