Train hauling beer derails near Tehachapi Loop

Several cars of a train hauling beer near the Tehachapi Loop derailed late Wednesday night, Union Pacific Railroad reported.

The Union Pacific train derailed 10 cars along the Mojave Subdivision in Caliente at around 11 p.m. local time; of the 10 cars that derailed, five were center beam flat cars and five were boxcars loaded with beer, according to UP Corporate Relations and Media Director Justin Jacobs.

The train was headed from West Colton to Roseville. The mainline is affected and two trains have been delayed, Jacobs said.

No was was injured in the derailment, and UP crews are at the scene assessing the track damage and making repairs.

"The cause of the derailment is under investigation", said Jacobs.
