Hundreds of runners participated in the 6th Annual Honor Run at Hart Park today.
The run honors fallen Sheriff's deputies and assists with future scholarships for their children.
Proceeds also benefit children who participate in the Kern County Sheriff's Activity League in East Bakersfield, Kern Valley, Lamont and Wasco.
32 Sheriff's Deputies and Sheriff's Volunteers have been killed in the line of duty since 1866. Most recently, Deputy Daniel Archuleta (2004), Deputy William "Joe" Hudnall (2006), and Deputy James Throne (2008).
All of the deputies were patrol deputies and were killed in vehicle crashes.
