A walk for sickle cell disease is being held at the park at Riverwalk. Today is the 9th annual Farewell to Sickle Cell walk.

The walk started at 8 a.m. and goes until 11 a.m. In addition to the walk there is also face painting, clowns, henna tattoos, music, food and raffle prizes.

This walk is put on by the Hina Patel Foundation which takes all the proceeds and puts them towards their programs that fund research and education to assist local patients and families. The proceeds will also allow children ages 8 to 14 to attend sickle cell camp. The money also helps to support tribal people in India suffering from sickle cell disease.
