Adventist Health Bakersfield announced Monday that its burn center has closed.

What was Kern County's first full service burn center officially closed last Friday, Nov. 6.

In 2009, Adventist Health partnered with Los Angeles-based Grossman Burn Centers to bring the center to the county. But in 2015, the hospital ended its relationship with Grossman Burn Centers, and it was relocated to Memorial Hospital.

Adventist Health said it decided to close its facility because Bakersfield does not need two full service burn centers based on the volume of burn injuries that occur in Kern County.
