Just before 5 p.m. all lanes north bound and south bound were closed.

As 6 p.m. approached CHP began letting motorists through on the south bound side.

Just a few miles south of the run away truck ramp all motorists were being guided off I-5 and were forced to wait until Caltrans could clean up the roadway and CHP could make sure the situation was safe.

Around 8:30 p.m. CHP officers began escorting people down the hill, making sure everybody made it down safely.

All lanes are open and Caltrans plans to continue cleanup on the north bound side on Saturday (May 7).
