An inmate at the Lerdo Pre-Trial Facility has died according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office. 

Officials said around just after 10 a.m. Friday a detention deputy noticed an unresponsive male inmate inside of a single inmate observation cell.

Detention deputies immediately began life saving measures and continued until medical personnel arrived on scene. 

Medical personnel attempted life saving measures however the 33 year old white male inmate was pronounced dead a short time later. 

Detectives with the Kern County Sheriff's Office responded and assumed the investigation. 

The investigation is ongoing. 

An autopsy will eb scheduled to determine the cause and manner of death.
