California, a major national avocado supplier, has had a poor growing year.

With the season coming to a close, suppliers were hoping for some relief from growers in Mexico but there are not enough avocados being picked south of the border to meet demand.

According to data from the Hass Avocado Board, the number of avocados California is receiving from Mexico is dropping dramatically by the week.

The surge is not just affecting shoppers, it's affecting restaurants.

23 ABC spoke with Joe Munoz, owner Casa Munoz, who says he’s just rolling with the punches.

He says he is not going to punish diners by raising prices or cutting back on how much they dish out.

“Prices – that’s our thing. We will make sure we deal with the supply side on our side but customers will always get the top quality they expect from us,” said Munoz.

Restaurants are seeing prices increase more than $30 a case but Casa Munoz says they're not going to punish diners by raising prices or cutting back.
