Bakersfield Fire Department responded to early Tuesday morning fire on Eye Street

On Tuesday, August 30, at 12:42 a.m., the Bakersfield Fire Department responded to a reported residential structure fire at 230 Eye Street including three engines, two trucks, two Battalion Commanders, one Arson Unit and assisting agencies (KCFD, P.G. & E., COB Building Dept.).
 
BFD arrived first and reported a "working fire" with heavy fire showing from the front of a vacant, single-story, single-family residential structure with the fire extending to two sides of the structure.
 
Firefighters deployed multiple hoselines to extinguish the fast moving fire, where they were met by heavy fire and heat conditions. Additional BFD firefighters established hydrant-based water supplies and assisted with fighting the fire.
 
BFD firefighters provided support functions to assist with interior crews advancement on the blaze and checked for fire extension.
 
BFD's Arson Investigators are currently determining the cause of the fire.
 
Damage estimated at $85,000.00.
 
No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
