A Bakersfield man was arrested Saturday night after he led officers on a short chase through Santa Margarita, according to CHP.
Officials said a CHP officer noticed Christopher Cruz, 38 was not wearing a seatbelt while at an intersection in Santa Margarita around 7 p.m. on Saturday.
CHP said Cruz drove off but lost control of his truck about 200 yards away and hit a chain linked fence.
Authorities said he got out of the truck and ran off.
Officers arrested Cruz after finding him hiding in a utility shed in a backyard.
CHP said Cruz had confirmed warrants out of San Luis Obispo County.
