Bakersfield man dies, passenger injured in Visalia car crash

On August 27 at 6:05pm, Jose Quezada was driving a 2001 Chevrolet traveling west on Avenue 56, west of SR43 when he failed to stop at the posted stop sign.

Quezada's car struck the left front of a 2015 Ford occupied by two passengers, causing the Ford to drive off the edge of SR43 and overturn on a downhill dirt embankment where it struck a wooden telephone pole.

The two front passengers of Quezada's car were not set belted and and were ejected from the vehicle. They sustained major injuries and were transported to Kaweah Delta Medical Center. An additional female and two minor passengers were properly restrained and sustained minor injuries.

Donna Cienfuegos of Bakersfield, a passenger of the 2015 Ford, sustained major injuries and was transported via ground ambulance to Kaweah Delta Medical Center.

The driver of the Ford, a Bakersfield resident, succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased on scene. He is still pending next of kin notification.

The collision is still under investigation. Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected of being a contributing factor in this collision.
