The Bakersfield Police Department received a $30,000 grant for bicycle and pedestrian safety education. 

The grant was awarded to the police department on behalf of the California Office of Traffic Safety for a year-long program to help prevent traffic related deaths and injuries. 

The grant will fund activities including bicycle/pedestrian educational presentations, bicycle/pedestrian rodeo's, juvenile bike court, conduct pre and post helmet surveys, and distribute and properly fit bicycle helmets.
