BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A body was found in a canal in South Bakersfield Friday afternoon, according to Bakersfield Police.

Sgt Jeff Paglia of the Bakersfield Police Department said that at around 2 p.m. officers were flagged down in the 6600 block of South H Street and were told a body was in the canal. Upon further investigation, officers found a deceased adult male in the canal.

The body was pulled from the canal.

Authorities did not release a description of the man and did not know how long the body had been in the canal. A cause of death is pending from the coroner's office. The investigation is ongoing.
