BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - UPDATE (June 12, 2017 11:20 a.m.): The cause of death for Michael Brouilette was drowning and the matter of death was accident, according to the Coroner's Office.
UPDATE (May 24, 2017 10:15 a.m.): The person who was found in a canal has been identified as 56-year-old Michael Joseph Brouilette.
UPDATE (May 19, 2017 3 p.m.): The male found in the canal passed away at the hospital. He was in his 50's.
Foul play is not suspected in this incident.
A person was found and pulled out of a canal in Northwest Bakersfield near Truxtun Avenue and Westside Parkway Friday night.
The person was found just after 1 p.m. near the City Corporation Yard floating in the canal
City employees saw the subject and used poles to prevent him from continuing downstream.
The person was found unresponsive and taken to the hospital.
