A car crashed into a SW Bakersfield home during the early morning hours and ruptured a gas line.

At Norseman St. and McDonald Way, neighbors were forced out of their homes after a dark-colored SUV crashed between two homes. Occupants of the vehicle fled the scene.

But Bakersfield Police officials said that the driver was located and taken into custody without incident.

Bakersfield Fire and BPD responded to the scene, closing off the street for the safety of residents, as natural gas is still leaking in the area.

BPD officials said that no one was injured as a result of the collision. Several residences were evacuated for precautionary reasons while crews worked to stop the gas leak.

A neighbor posted a video on YouTube moments after the crash happened. In the video, the neighbor who saved those inside the home, took video of them checking the scene, finding the leak and saving those inside.
