The Kern High School District with community partners kicked off School Attendance Awareness Month Monday.

The national campaign’s goal is to have students miss fewer days of school.

Students who miss more than three days a month risk falling behind, which affects test scores and graduation rates.

This is the third year the school district has participated in the attendance awareness month.
