The 13th annual 'Walk to Defeat ALS' park is happening today at Riverwalk Park from 8am to noon.
Kern County's local chapter, ALS Association Golden West Chapter, has raised over one million million to help those living with ALS.
ALS is a disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spine.
Currently there is no cure for the disease, which is why organizations like Walk to Defeat ALS are so necessary.
They are committed to finding treatments and a cure.
