Head coach Rod Barnes and the players have been saying all season long that their goal was to win the first WAC title in school history and Saturday night they got it done by beating New Mexico State for the first time in their history (previously 0-11).

The Runners jumped out to an early lead with good defense and shooting from senior Kevin Mays who was 3-3 in the first half. CSUB led 32-22 at the break.

In the second half Dedrick Basile took over with a team total 18 points in just 26 minutes of play. But no points were bigger than his 3-pointer at the end of regulation to send the Runners to their first NCAA Tournament in school history.

"It's just something I've always dreamed about and it just happened," Basile said after the game. "Like Coach Barnes said we put God first and he came through."

It was finally CSUB's time as Coach Barnes said. "We talked about this since last year and I'm just so thankful to be apart of this team."
