Day 2 of the Sabrina Limon murder trial resumes today

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 4:36 p.m.): Judge calls it a day with Mountjoy still on the stand.

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 4:25 p.m.): Mountjoy says there were 526 phone calls and texts between Hearn and Sabrina Limon from November of 2013 and March of 2014. From June 2 through Sept. 1 2014 the two exchanged 5,909 calls and texts between.

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 4:18 p.m.): Mountjoy is talking about phones that were confiscated at the time of the arrests and a cell phone database that helps detail information between phones. 

Mountjoy is discussing phone records and his investigation into cell phone records. He said he looked for any correspondence between Sabrina Limon and Hearn and anybody else.

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 3:58 p.m.): Mountjoy is talking about surveilling Sabrina Limon, including wire taps and following Sabrina Limon and Hearn. He says he saw them together within the first week of a wiretap. Wiretap began first week of November 2014. He saw them at Roundtable Pizza and at a frozen yogurt shop. 

Says he was "definitely convinced" Hearn and Sabrina Limon were in a relationship. Says it appeared Hearn was in a father figure type role with Limon's children. Says Hearn and Sabrina Limon interacted like a "normal couple".

Says he was involved in the arrest of Hearn at the Redlands Fire Station inside the fire station. Transported him to Adelanto then transported him to the Boron substation. He was also involved in the arrest of Sabrina Limon. Arrested her at an elementary school in Helendale. She was also transported to the Boron sub-station.

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 3:51 p.m.): Kern County Sheriff's deputy Shawn Mountjoy now on the stand. Mountjoy is assigned to the Tehachapi sub-station.

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 3:30 p.m.): On the stand now Kenzo Lackey, detective with the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 2:35 p.m.): John Justus, an employee of BNSF Railway is now on the stand. He says he socialized with Robert Limon, played golf with him a lot and would spend a lot of time with him at work and outside of work. 

Justice was asked if he ever had any "beefs or arguments" with Robert Limon. He said "No".

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 2:15 p.m.): Kelly Bernatene being asked about exchanging nude photos with the Limons. A picture of Kelly was found on Robert Limon's phone. Kelly says she never sent him topless photos, but Jason Bernatene may have sent Robert a topless photo. 

Kelly Bernatene, "I believe Sabrina Limon told Johnathan to go kill Robert. I believe she should pay for his murder."

UPDATE (September 12, 2017, 1:47 p.m.): Kelly Bernatene being cross examined. Being asked if her, her husband, Sabrina and Robert Limon ever engaged in sexual activity together. She said yes. She says she never had sexual relations with just Robert Limon present or when it was just her, Sabrina and Robert Limon. 

In describing her relationship with Robert Limon, "He was my friend. He was my good friend. We were all best friends."

UPDATE (September 12, 2017, 1:42 p.m.): Kelly Bernatene, ex-wife of Jason Bernatene, is back on the stand. She's being questioned about a Ford truck she saw at or near the home of Sabrina Limon. She saw the truck parked at the home two weeks after the death of Robert Limon. 

She said she suspected it belonged to Hearn. She asked Sabrina Limon, who said it belonged to someone named Paul McClain (sp.). She wrote down the license plate "Because I was suspicious." She gave that information to Detective Meyer. 

"I felt she was hiding him (Hearn). I didn't think it was Paul's truck. So I wanted to see who's truck it was." 

She also saw a motorcycle in front of Sabrina's home. It was black with airbrush on it. She took a picture and gave it to Detective Meyer.

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 11:42 a.m.):

Jason Bernatene is excused from the witness stand. 

The prosecution call Kelly Bernatene to the stand next. Kelly and Jason Bernatene are now divorced.

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 11:40 a.m.):

Jason Bernatene testified that he and his then wife, Kelly, went to Sabrina Limon's house the night of her husband's murder. He said that he found it odd that Sabrina was "in control". So much so, that it made him uncomfortable and that he left. Bernatene said that Sabrina told him that she did not want to tell anyone about Robert's death immediately and that she wanted to have "one good night" but would tell people about his killing the next day. Bernstein said that he found it odd that Sabrina wanted to control how people found out about Robert's death.

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 11:30 a.m.):

Jason Bernatene testified that he did not tell Sabrina Limon that he contacted KCSO Detective Meyer because he knew that Sabrina did not want detectives to know about her affair with Jonathan Hearn.

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 11:02 a.m.):

Defense attorney, Richard Terry, began the cross examination of Jason Bernatene by asking about a cash reward that BNSF Railway was offering around the time of Robert Limon's death. Bernatene said that he was aware of the reward but that he nor his wife never made a claim for the money even though he provided information which led to Jonathan Hearn's arrest. 

Terry then asked Bernatene whether he and his wife would take "adult trips" with the Limons. He said that the couples did take vacations without their children. Bernatene asked if the couples were involved a swinger's group. Bernatene replied, "there wasn't a swingers group, sir." 

Bernatene testified that he, his wife and the Limons would engage in sexual activities together, but that the husbands only had sex with their respective wives. He denied any claims that Robert Limon had sexual intercourse with his wife. He insisted that there was "no wife swapping".

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 10:52 a.m.):

Jason Bernatene testified that Hearn contacted him in the weeks following Robert Limon's murder. He said that he also spoke with Sabrina and she told him that Hearn had given her flowers. 

Days later, Bernatene contacted Detective Meyer and gave him information about Jonathan Hearn including text messages between the two and a letter Hearn had given him.

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 10:45 a.m.):

Jason Bernatene testified that Hearn texted him to ask for Robert Limon's number. He admitted that he gave it to him. Bernatene said that he observed a 45-minute conversation between Hearn and Robert but did not disclose what the two men discussed. 

Bernatene said that he had told Hearn to stay away from the Limons. Not too long after that, his wife, Kelly, saw Hearn at Costco, where Limon worked.

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 10:15 a.m.):

Jason Bernatene testified that he was also friends with Jonathan Hearn. Bernatene said he met Hearn in 2010 through firefighting in Helendale. He said that the two worked about 20, 24-hour shifts together and that he had gotten to know him pretty well. Bernatene testified that he was "very impressed him as a young man." Adding that Hearn was, "very intelligent, very well-spoken and very proper."

Bernatene said that Hearn was hired to work as a fire fighter in Redlands and that the next time he heard from him was when Sabrina Limon mentioned that she had met Hearn at a Costco in Victorville, where she worked.

Bernatene said that Hearn contacted him, asking him to be invited on family trips that included the Limons. He said that he never did. 

Bernatene testified that in the following weeks he began noticing Hearn spending time with Sabrina and her cousins.

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 10:15 a.m.):

KCSO Detective Meyer was excused from the stand shortly before 10 a.m. The prosecution called Jason Bernatene to the stand. Bernatene testified that he met Sabrina Limon when his wife became friends with her circa 2008. Bernatene said that he spent a lot of time with the Limons. Adding that, "Rob was a real likable guy so was Sabrina. We became friends really fast."

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 9:57 a.m.):

Cell phone records show 17 missed calls from Sabrina's home phone to Robert's cell phone the day that he was killed. The last attempted phone call was made at 8:24 p.m.

UPDATE (September 12, 2017 9:35 a.m.):

KCSO homicide Detective Meyer gave his account of photos he discovered in Robert Limon's cell phone. Meyer testified that there were a number of photos of Robert Limon and unidentified women. Meyer added that there were photos of topless women, not believed to be Sabrina Limon.

Day 2 of the Sabrina Limon murder trial continues today. KCSO homicide Detective Meyer returned to the stand, testifying in today's trial. 

Detective Meyer described photos taken from the crime scene. Meyer was also the detective who requested a search warrant for cell phone records. Meyer testified that there were 7,000 communications between a number believed to belong to Jonathan Hearn, and Sabrina Limon.
