Donation sites for Erskine Fire victims

Below is a list of donation sites for victims of the Erskine Fire, provided by the Kern River Valley Family Resource Center.

Tangible Donations Drop Off Sites:
 

  • Salvation Army is still accepting donations. The drop off location is at Web Recycling in Lake Isabella.
  • First Baptist Church is looking towels, food, water, batteries, depends for women, fresh fruit, cash donations, and vons cards (no clothes).
  • Elks still accepting all items except clothing.
  • Mountain View Baptist Church Contact Ron Barker (760) 379-4296.
  • Rivernook is still accepting donations except clothes (will update as information becomes available).
  • Faith Community is looking for pet food (dog and cat), boxes, tape, and fiscal donations.
  • Weldon United Methodist Church the items that need to be replenished are the following: 
    Adult Diapers, toiletries, can foods and baby formula and jar food children toys are always a plus and pet food, hand sanitizer, sleeping bags and blankets Men's women's and children's shoes.Please note there is No phone in the Annex building, but it is open and volunteers are there.

For people wanting to volunteer in the Community
 

  • To volunteer at Red Cross Shelters you must register through Red Cross. Contact Volunteer Specialist Gordon Starr (559) 240-8063 email Gordon.starr@redcross.org
  • Faith Community accepting volunteers, to sign up swing by their location and fill out a volunteer form. They will contact you as needed.
  • Salvation Army is looking for volunteers at their Web Recycling Location. Contact Debbie(760) 379-8201.
  • Volunteers needed at Rivernook to assist with organizing and distributing. Please give Vickie Metcaf-Peterson a call or text (760) 608-0413.
  • Volunteers needed at the Elks lodge. Just come on in.
  • VFW is looking for volunteers please contact Tom (760) 379-3877

Resources for Displaced Families

(displaced: not currently in home due to evacuation orders or due to loss of home from Erskine Fire)
 

  • South Fork Summer School is closed until further notice. Wallace Middle School, Wallace Elementary School ESY, and Kern Valley High School will resume on Monday, June 27, 2016.
  • KVAP IS offering its program this week at the lake. Parents should contact KVAP at 760-299-2030 or use their website at www.kvap.org

Thomas Refuse Service Sites

The following sites are available for trash drop off. Household trash such as food.ABSOLUTELY NO furniture or other random items. Please don’t abuse this as it is a nice service to our community right now.

  • Mountain Mesa Park

Animals:
 

  • We have corrals at the ranch if needed. Crabtrees on Sierra way in Kernville next door to Jake's Place . Can call or text cell (760) 379-0921.
  • Animal Control is looking for lost pets.
  • The Lake Isabella Shelter is still in need of animal donations.
  • Kern Valley FFA has animal food and supply donations, they are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Contact Emily Keverline (760) 417-0905. They might be able to make some delivieries, but please use the point of contact.
  • Ridgecrest Desert Empire Fairgrounds is taking Horses and livestock by Almost Eden Rescue
  • Curtis Moore in Ridgecrest can come pick up large animals and transport them to the Ridgecrest fairgrounds (760) 382-4585
