Two injured in Rexland Acres drug lab explosion

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - UPDATE: 2:40 a.m. -- The Kern County Sheriff's Office confirmed with 23ABC News that the explosion was caused by a drug lab in the home. Two people were injured and rushed to the hospital as a result of the explosion. There's no word on whether anyone has been arrested in connection with the incident.

An explosion and house fire were reported in the Rexland Acres area of Bakersfield late Friday.

Crews were called to the area of Rexland Drive and Garber Way at around 10:30 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol has also been called to the scene.

Neighbors told 23ABC News that they reported hearing a loud explosion in the area and then seeing a large presence of fire crews.

It wasn't immediately known what caused the fire or whether anyone was injured.
