A local family is outraged after their dog is shot and killed in their own backyard.

Last Friday, Miguel Carranza, says he got home from work and found his dog, Lamar, barely able to walk.

Carranza is adamant that his neighbor shot his dog with a pellet gun.

X rays show pellets lodged into the 2-year-old Blue Mastiff/Great Dane’s body the day he died.

"He had 16 lodged in him. And that's just where the doctor stopped counting," said Carranza.

A longtime feud between he and his next door neighbors leads him to believe that they are responsible for his dog's death.

Text messages dating back to a year ago from Carranza's neighbor detail that conversation.

23ABC spoke with that neighbor off camera. He said that his family had nothing to do with Lamar's death.

We reached out to Animal control services who says they are investigating – but could not comment pending the outcome of that investigation.
