Female assaulted and stabbed near McFarland, suspect on the loose

On May 5th, 2017 at about 6:30 pm, an adult female was assaulted while walking in some grape vineyards just east of Scheitlin Road and north of Elmo Highway near McFarland.

The victim was approached by a male suspect and attacked. During the assault, the suspect knocked her to the ground stabbing her.

The suspect ran from the area before deputies arrived. The suspect is described as a male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and possibly a dark colored mask.

The Sheriff’s Office reminds the public to be aware of their surroundings when they are walking or running in rural areas.

When possible, use the “Buddy System” by not walking alone. Report suspicious persons or incidents to law enforcement.
