UPDATE (Feb. 6, 2017, 12:34 p.m.): According to the Kern High School District, three Foothill students informed the Dean that they observed a student showing another group of students what they believed to be hand grenades.

The students were able to give a distinctive description of the student, but no positive identification of the student was made.

The Foothill administrative team, along with security staff, searched each classroom in an effort to find the student based on the previously mentioned description. KHSD police officers assisted with the investigation.

The lockdown was called to hold students in class while the search was conducted. However, the search was unsuccessful, and the lockdown was lifted as the school resumed its normal schedule.
