Boxing is a highly beneficial sport that benefits both  aerobic (cardio endurance) and anaerobic (toning) functions.

"It's a good mixture of anaerobic and aerobic exercise. Whereas more cardio aerobic fitness like longer range, 20 minute range. More using fat to burn your fuel. But on the anaerobic it's more like the sprinting ability, so it's a good mixture of both. And it's one of the few sports where you have a good mixture of that, anaerobic endurance and aerobic endurance," said Ernesto Torres, trainer at Bakersfield Boxing and Fitness Club.

23ABC's Kelli Johnson and Allyson Cummings went to Bakersfield Boxing and Fitness Club to learn more about the sport. They got a great workout in, with a combination of conditioning exercises, as well as getting punches in the ring.

Here is the first part of the series which showcases the warm-up round.
