Heartbroken is the only word to describe Bakersfield residents Arvilla Beecher and Gina Buckner.

Beecher and Buckner lost five family members on Tuesday when 26-year-old Alex Buckner shot and killed his father, mother and two younger sisters in Phoenix, Arizona.

Buckner also set the house on fire. Police went into the house and found Buckner in a room. Buckner pointed his gun at police and authorities shot and killed him.

Beecher and Gina Buckner say that Alex suffered from Schizophrenia and he had stopped taking his medication recently. Buckner also speculates that conversations about having Alex institutionalized may have prompted the shooting.

Beecher was Buckner's grandmother. Gina Buckner was Alex's aunt.

Both are having a hard time comprehending what happened on Tuesday.

"I can't believe it. I can't believe it," said Beecher.

"I really didn't even comprehend it until it started showing up on the Internet. I keep praying that I'll wake up from a nightmare and it'll be over."

A dilemma has unfolded for Beecher and Gina Buckner. They need funds to take approximately 10 family members that live in Kern County to Arizona for the funeral.

A Go Fund Me page has been created to help them make it to Arizona.
