Californians leading a charge to leave the Union may have a place on the 2018 ballot.
The group 'Yes California' filed a proposed ballot measure with the Attorney General's Office on Monday, November 21. The measure would complete the cession in two ways.
First, by striking language from the California Constitution that says California is "an inseparable part of the United States of America." Second, it plainly asks voters if they want to leave the country.
If the measure does win, voters would be asked again - in a March 2019 special election - if they do indeed want California to be its own country.
