The Kern County Health Department said they closed two restaurants due to major health code violations.

Ruby Thai Kitchen, located inside The Valley Plaza Mall, was closed on Wednesday due to vermin infestation.

John's Meat Market, located at 600 Norris Rd., was closed by the Health Department on Tuesday for various health code violations.

The market was cited for cross contamination, environmental contamination and incorrect use of sanitizing equipment.

No word on when either restaurant will open.
