The Islamic Center of Bakersfield on Ming Avenue has received a hate letter very similar to what others in the area have previously received.

Located across from the fairgrounds, it is the first, and oldest, mosque in Bakersfield. Authorities contacted the U.S. Attorney's Office right after receiving it, as well as the FBI and local authorities. There has been increased security and police placed around the area.

On Friday, December 2, members were notified of the threat and of the new security measures being put in place.

Mosques in Taft, Arvin and Delano have not received threats.
