UPDATE (August 17, 11:30 a.m.): The Coroner has identifed the body found near East Bakersfield High School as 24-year-old Bryan David Vigue of Bakersfield. The cause of death is still pending.

======================

On August 9th, 2017 at about 12:48 am, Kern County Sheriff’s deputies responded to East Bakersfield High School, located at 2200 Quincy Street, for a report of a subject who was possibly deceased on the west side of the School.

When deputies arrived they spoke to the reporting party. He led them to the body of an obviously deceased adult male lying on the sidewalk. Deputies examined the body and determined the decedent had been deceased for a period of time.

Homicide detectives responded and assumed the investigation. The decedent did not appear to have any obvious signs of trauma, and based on the condition of the body detectives believe it is possible the decedent died at another location and was left off by an unknown person or persons where his body was later located. The Coroner’s Office responded and took custody of the decedent. An autopsy will be scheduled to identify the decedent and determine the cause and manner of death.

The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information on this case they are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 661-861-3110 or Secret Witness at 661-322-4040.
