A man was rescued from the Kern River Sunday afternoon after losing control of his kayak. 

The incident happened just north of the Panorama Bluffs near China Grade Loop. 

The Kern County Sheriff Department along with other agencies assisted in the rescue. 

The unidentified man was wearing a life preserver at the time.
