The search for Rita Bello, the woman who's been missing for more than a month has been suspended.

According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, the search in the Kern River has been placed on hold.

On Friday, Kern County Sheriff's crews found a woman's body in the Kern River, about a quarter mile east of China Grade Loop.

An autopsy for the woman's body is set for Monday.

In light of the body that was found, KCSO says the search for Bello has been suspended. Bello was first reported missing March 6.

KCSO search and rescue teams have searched the Kern River after it was believed that she went into it.

KCSO has not said the woman's body that was found Friday is Bello.

Bello's sister, Jenny Bello, tells 23ABC that detectives have contacted the family. She says giving up hope that her sister is alive is not an option.

"I don't want to be naive but that's my sister there. I just want to see her again," said Bello.
