Detectives from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crime Investigation Unit were monitoring social media on Wednesday in an attempt to locate previously reported stolen property.

Detectives noticed a series of social media posts regarding a residential burglary in the 2800 block of North Chester Avenue in Bakersfield, CA.

The posts stated several items had been stolen from the victim’s apartment.  Detectives noticed another post where a subject was attempting to sell items similar to the items stolen from the burglary.

The subject listing the items for sale had been previously contacted and arrested by Rural Crime Investigation Unit Detectives for stealing from oil related industries.

Detectives went to 2700 block of North Chester Avenue and contacted the suspect, identified as DAWN ELIZABETH RANJEL, age 48, of Bakersfield, and additional male suspect identified as TOBI PRUITT, age 45, of Bakersfield.

During a search of their residence, approximately $4,000 worth of stolen items was recovered and return to the victim.  Both RANJEL and PRUITT were arrested and booked into the Central Receiving Facility for violation of PC 460(a), burglary, and PC 496(a), possession of stolen property.
