Kern County Heart and Stroke Walk happening Saturday

The Kern County Heart and Stroke Walk is happening today in Bakersfield. 

The 5K walk or run is open to all ages. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. and the walk starts at 9 a.m.

More than 2,000 people from Bakersfield and the surrounding area are expected to participate. 

The event encourages health habits while raising funds to support research and education efforts to fight heart disease and stroke which are the nation's number 1 and number 5 killers. 

Participants that raise $100 are eligible for a Heart Walk shirt. Participants that raise $250 or more will also receive a prize certificate to redeem American Heart Association gear!

The event is being held at the CSUB Amphitheater located at 9083 Stockdale Hwy. 

A kid zone will be available. 

Money raised goes to the American Heart Association which aims to build healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
