Kern County Sheriff's deputies and probation officers arrest 19 in warrant sweeps

On Friday March 31, 2017, Kern County Sheriff's deputies, in collaboration with probation officers from the Kern County Probation Department, conducted a large warrant sweep in the east Kern County communities of Boron and Mojave.  

In addition to the warrant sweep, the deputies and officers conducted numerous probation and parole compliance searches followed up by directed street patrol in the Mojave area.

The officers made 19 arrests during the operation.  

Of the 19 arrests, 6 were felonies and 13 were misdemeanor arrests.  

A notable case involving Kevin Jones,53, and Keshawn Jones,19, from Edwin St. near Aurther Ave in Mojave resulted in a loaded firearm being seized along with live ammunition.

 

 

As a result Kevin Jones was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and resisting arrest.  Keshawn Jones was arrested for possession of a high capacity magazine and allowing a child or prohibited person access to a firearm. 

18 of the 19 suspects were booked into the Sheriff's Central Receiving Facility while the other was issued a misdemeanor citation.
